American Airlines sparks price war with discount fare to Vietnam

American Airlines has reportedly sparked a price war on routes to Vietnam after announcing a USD900 promotional return fare.
Fares on Vietnam routes have now dropped by 30% compared to 2003 after other international carriers followed American Airlines' lead and offered special promotional discounts over the summer season.
Vietnam could now become a robust aviation market with two major US carriers, American Airlines and United Airlines, competing with regional airlines from Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong and China, reports the Vietnam News Agency.
