Singapore Airlines has reported that its capacity usage for October 2004 fell compared to October 2003 after it increased capacity across its network.

The airline filled 72.8% of its seats on flights during October 2004, down from 73.7% in October 2003, with cargo capacity usage falling from 68.8% in October 2003 to 65.8% in October 2004. Singapore Airlines used 68.3% of its total combined passenger and cargo capacity in October 2004, down from 70.6% over the same period in 2003.

Singapore Airlines said that the decline was partly due to the 13.9% increase in capacity on its network compared to October 2003 after it began new routes to China and India. The airline carried 1.34m passengers in October 2004, up 9% from the previous October, reports The Associated Press.
