In a move which is expected to damage its bankrupt rival ATA Airlines further Southwest Airlines has announced that it is to start 16 new flights from Chicago's Midway Airport in early 2005.
Southwest Airlines said that the new services would serve 13 cities it already covers from Midway including Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The airline said at the end of October 2004 that expansion at Midway Airport was its main focus. The new flights will begin in the first quarter of 2005 and will not require new gates.
The Dallas-based airline may operate the new services using some of the 29 new Boeing 737 aircraft it will take delivery of in 2005, reports The Associated Press.
