AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2004 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
Singapore Airlines has launched a new system which will allow almost all its passengers to ask for certain seats when checking in via the Internet.
The airline said that passengers checking in on its website can pick a seat from an interactive seat map and then receive confirmation through an SMS text message or an e-mail. Frequent flyers will also be able to change their seats or cancel their check-in.
The service is available on all Singapore Airlines flights except certain services from India and some other Asian cities. A spokesperson for the airline said that the new suite of tools is designed to improve customers' pre-flight experience, reports AFP.
