US aircraft manufacturer Boeing has announced that it will be using software from IT companies Delmia and Intercim to help digitally define how to build and maintain its new Boeing 7E7 Dreamliner aircraft.

A combination of Delmia's DELMIA V5 DPM Shop and Intercim Velocity software tools will be used to create a 3D shop floor information system which will then be integrated into Dassault Systemes' product lifecycle management solutions using a single 7E7 database. This will allow a projection of how best to build and project maintenance schedules for the aircraft.

Mike Bair, the 7E7 program vice president and general manager, said that integration of the software tools used into a single 7E7 database will lead to fewer mistakes and redundancies and a better 7E7.
