EADS beats nine-month forecast thanks to Airbus

The parent company of European aircraft manufacturer Airbus, EADS, has reported higher than expected earnings for the first nine months of 2004 thanks to strong commercial aircraft sales.

EADS posted nine-month earnings of EUR597m, up from EUR242m in the same period in 2003, on sales of EUR21.5bn, up 16% on the first nine months of 2003. The company has now raised its full-year earnings forecast to EUR2.2bn from EUR2.1bn and its revenue forecast to EUR32bn from EUR31bn.

EADS said that it expected Airbus to deliver 315 aircraft in 2004, reported Reuters.
