Cathay Pacific to start daily flights to Beijing

Hong Kong-based airline Cathay Pacific Airways is to launch a new daily service to Beijing from 1 December 2004 to replace its current three times a week service, after it was granted permission.
It will be the first time in 13 years that the airline has been allowed to offer daily flights to the Chinese capital. Cathay Pacific has also received permission to operate a second daily flight to Beijing starting in the summer of 2005. The airline will be one of four carriers operating a total of 112 flights per week to Beijing from Hong Kong.
A spokesperson for the airline said that ever since it started its three times a week service in December 2003 passengers had been requesting more flights, reported Reuters.
