Korean Air has been revealed as the airline which has received permission from the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to carry Taser stun guns on board its passenger flights in US airspace.

A spokesperson for the TSA said that it had approved the airline's application at the start of November 2004. Korean Air has been using Taser weapons outside of US airspace for several years according to an airline spokesperson.

The TSA's decision to allow Taser guns to be carried is the latest move towards arming airline personnel so they can deal with criminal or terrorist threats on board passenger aircraft. Pilots are already allowed to carry handguns if they undergo special training, reports The Associated Press.
