The government of Singapore has reported an increase in passenger traffic for low-cost airlines during the summer of 2004 in its 'Changes in the Aviation Landscape' report.
The new report said that three low-cost airlines - Valuair, Tiger Airways and Thai AirAsia - now account for 5% of the total air traffic at Changi Airport and that budget airline traffic in the June-August period has risen by 12% since 2002.
Singapore also confirmed in the report that its first terminal built specifically for budget carriers would be in operation by 2006, helping the country to attract the region's massive low-cost airline market, reports The Associated Press.
