German airline Lufthansa has announced that its traffic for October 2004 increased by 14.8% over October 2003 thanks mainly to an increase in passengers on routes to the Asia-Pacific region.

The airline carried 4.76m passengers in October 2004, up 13.2%, with a passenger load factor of 76.2%, a rise of 0.1 percentage points on the same period 12 months ago. A spokesperson for Lufthansa said that the biggest growth area was in flights to the Asia-Pacific region while Middle East/Africa routes were the airline's weakest performers.

Lufthansa said that it flew a total of 9.66bn revenue-passenger miles in October 2004 giving it a 14.8% increase over October 2003, reports Reuters.
