The Polish national airline LOT has announced that it is hoping to make its debt on the Warsaw stock exchange in the spring of 2005.

The move comes as part of the Polish government's drive to privatise state-run companies and the sale of its stake in LOT has been planned for years.

The airline's CEO Marek Grabarek said that LOT was in discussions with the country's Treasury Ministry to secure extra financing with a decision expected before the end of 2004. The sale will bring much needed funds to Poland's budget although its not known how much the IPO (initial public offering) will make, reports The Associated Press.
