American Airlines is to begin testing a new portable in-flight entertainment system in November 2004.
The new device will enable passengers to read electronic newspapers, watch movies and listen to music. The airline hopes that the new system will improve its current entertainment options and increase revenue by charging passengers USD10-12 to use the system.
Passengers will swipe their credit cards through the device to pay for it, meaning that flight attendants don't have to collect payments. The airline claims that it will offer 12 recently released movies, six hours of recorded television shows, music, audio books, games and daily newspapers, reports The Seattle Times.
