Avinor, the Norwegian civil aviation authority, is being sued by three Norwegian airlines who want to recoup losses made during an air traffic control strike in the country.
SAS Braathens, Norwegian Air and Wideroe are claiming a total of nearly NOK25m after a dispute over the closure of air traffic control centres, which are controlled by Avinor, in Norway caused two strikes by air traffic controllers. The strikes forced airlines to cancel and delay hundreds of flights.
The airlines claim that their demands could increase after they calculate the full cost, reports the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten.
