Moscow's Vnukovo airport was evacuated on 22 October 2004 after a package resembling a bomb was discovered in a piece of passenger luggage.

A sniffer dog confirmed the presence of explosives in the luggage, which was found at the entrance to a terminal building, and the airport was evacuated. However a second sniffer dog found nothing suspicious and its handler opened the luggage to discover batteries and an electric razor.

Police said that the bag's owner had not been detained.

A spokesperson for the airport said that it had now reopened and check-in procedures were operating normally, reports The Associated Press.
