Danish airport operator Copenhagen Airports A/S has reportedly been eliminated from the race to bid for Brussels International Airport in Belgium.

Copenhagen Airports executives reportedly said that the officials in Brussels have decided to focus on just two of the four bids that were left.

"They must have submitted a better bid - and that's fine. We weren't willing to buy it at any price," Flemming Petersen, assistant director of Copenhagen Airports, was quoted as saying.

The loss of the contract has left the Danish operator with excess money, of which some would be returned to shareholders through share repurchasing, reported the Danish news agency Ritzau.
