Japanese airport authorities are to start testing drinks and liquids that passengers want to carry on board to check for flammable material.

New anti-terrorism measures will see machines installed at Japanese airports to test liquids to see if they are flammable and could be used to endanger an aircraft or as some kind of explosive device.

The government in cooperation with Japanese carriers All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines will install 130 of the new testing machines at 26 airports across the country including Tokyo's Haneda Airport and Osaka's Itami Airport before the end of the financial year, reports the Washington Times.
