A Freedom Air aircraft which became stuck in the asphalt of a runway at Melbourne Airport in Australia should be free by the end of today (6 October) according to airport authorities.
The Boeing 737 aircraft got stuck as it was about to take off on a flight to Hamilton in New Zealand on 5 October 2004. Air Transport Safety Bureau investigators are looking into the cause of the accident while airline officials are trying to work out how best to move the aircraft.
The aircraft sank as it taxied away from the terminal into an area next the taxiway which is not load bearing. No other flights from the airport have been disrupted because of the incident, reports Luchtzak Aviation.
