United Airlines is to cut its domestic flights and increase its capacity on international flights in an attempt to boost revenues.
The move is in keeping with the airline's extensive cost cutting strategy which also includes cutting its fleet by 68 aircraft to 455 by March 2005. United said that it will cut its domestic capacity by 12% while increasing its international capacity by 14%.
A spokesperson for the airline said that its strategy is to align its fleet and use of aircraft with market conditions which are brutally competitive at the moment. The airline is looking to make USD5bn in savings by 2005, reports Reuters.
