Police at Taiwan's Chiang Kai-shek International Airport have seized one of the largest quantities of the amphetamine ketamin in the country's history.

Officials arrested four Malaysian men for attempting to smuggle 12.8kg of ketamine with a street value of TWD50m. The four men arrived on 6 October 2004 on a Malaysia Airlines flight and were arrested after customs officials allegedly detected an unknown powder in their luggage with an X-ray machine.

The ketamine was reportedly then discovered wrapped in copy paper and aluminium foil. The four men are now in the custody of the Taoyuan Prosecutor's Office, reports eTaiwanNews.com.
