Servisair ground staff and baggage handlers have begun their fourth strike over pay, working conditions and the suspension of a colleague at London's Gatwick Airport.

Despite the action airport and Servisair officials claim that no disruption will be caused and advised passengers to turn up as normal for their flights. Previous strikes have also caused little disruption with airlines drafting in other workers to cover.

The Transport and General Workers Union said that the fact that more workers were being drafted in than were on strike proved the point that its members' work loads were too heavy. Talks between the two parties broke down on 4 October 2004 and further strikes are planned for 13 and 15 October 2004, reports The Evening Standard.
