A judge in North Dakota has dismissed a privacy suit brought against Northwest Airlines after the airline supplied passenger data to NASA for airline security studies.

The judge dismissed the case following the dismissal of seven similar suits in Minnesota in June 2004. US District Judge Daniel Hovland rejected the plaintiff's claim that the airline violated the Electronic Communications Privacy Act.

Northwest Airlines had provided NASA with details of names, flight numbers, travel companies used, credit card data, hotel reservations and car rentals. Hovland also rejected claims that the airline broke its own privacy policy by supplying the details, reported The Associated Press.
