Baggage handlers at London's Gatwick Airport are set to strike on Saturday 25 September 2004 over workloads and the suspension of a shop steward.

The Transport and General Workers Union said that the strike action would involve some 600 workers employed by Servisair. The strike could affect airlines including easyJet, Ryanair, Delta Air Lines, Continental Airlines and Emirates.

The union said that the 24-hour strike would begin at 0300 local time on the Saturday and that a second strike on Thursday 30 September 2004 would be called if the issue was not resolved, reports The Associated Press.
