Flights by Brazil's fourth biggest airline Vasp resumed on 29 September 2004 after a workers received back pay owed to them by the airline.

The workers went on strike on 28 September 2004 after they did not receive their wages for August. The strike grounded Vasp flights across Brazil.

Vasp has been struggling with financial difficulties and has lost market share to the low-cost airline Gol. Government officials are considering a rescue plan for the country's troubled domestic airlines, of which only Gol is making a profit, reports The Associated Press.
