The Danish government has said that it will not reduce the airport taxes at Copenhagen's Kastrup Airport despite low-cost carriers cutting routes due to the cost.

The government said that it viewed cutting income tax as a higher priority than the airport tax issue and that it would keep the taxes at their present level which brings in around DKK500m a year.

British low-cost airline easyJet has already cut services from Newcastle and Bristol to Copenhagen and said that it would be more profitable to seek growth elsewhere, reports Reuters.
