SriLankan Airlines continues fleet expansion with fifth A320 aircraft

SriLankan Airlines has acquired its fifth Airbus A320 aircraft, bringing the total number of aircraft in its fleet to 17.

The airline has rapidly expanded its fleet to enable it to service new routes to 42 destinations throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

The airline is planning to add a further five aircraft to its fleet by the end of 2004 including another long-range A340 aircraft, two A320s and two Turbo Otter air taxis. An additional two long-range aircraft are also being sought to service the airline's new routes to Beijing, China in November 2004, reports The Associated Press.
