Malaysian budget carrier AirAsia might fly to Australia if offered profitable routes, the company's executive director said on Thursday (31 March).

Malaysian media reported that Australian Northern Territory authorities have unofficially invited AirAsia to fly between Darwin, Australia, and Kota Kinabalu, Borneo island.

The executive director said that AirAsia did not rule out the possibility of flying to Australia but said that the carrier's main focus for the year was purchasing new aircraft and the consolidation of other routes within Asia.
