Cathay Pacific to pay out back payments and adjust wages after court ruling

Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd is to give cabin crew back pay after a court ruling stated that their contracts were violated when the employees were not given automatic pay increases.

The Hong Kong airline has said that it will not appeal the ruling made by the High Court and that it will pay out the unpaid wages to its 3,300 cabin crew members and make adjustments to the wages accordingly.

The union has been quoted as saying that the total sum could be as high as USD36m while the airline has declined to specify the sum involved, The Associated Press reported.
