Hong Kong and Bahrain have agreed to expand cargo and passenger flights as well as code-share arrangements between airlines, the Hong Kong government said Monday (11 April).

The two sides agreed to expand "fifth freedom" rights between the two countries. Fifth freedom allows airlines to carry passengers to one country, and then fly to another country, rather than have to return to the country of origin.

Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd and Gulf Air are currently operating 11 weekly passenger services between Hong Kong and Bahrain, reported the Associated Press.
