Airline Industry Information, April 14, 2005

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

German airline Lufthansa has said that it will raise its fuel surcharge on long-haul flights due to the high oil and fuel prices.

According to the airline, the surcharge will be raised by EUR10 to EUR27 later in the year, stepping into force on 25 October on flights to Asia and Africa as well as on transatlantic flights.

Lufthansa, which will not add the surcharge to domestic and European services, has not set a deadline for how long the surcharge will be in force. The aim is to keep it until the markets stabilise, The Associated Press reported.
