United Airlines flight 27 made an emergency landing at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport on 26 April.

The cause of the emergency landing was reportedly suspicious material that was found during the flight between New York and San Francisco. The material was discovered when a passenger reported seeing it. After the flight crew examined it and found it to be suspicious, a decision was made to land at O'Hare, The Associated Press reported. The eight crew members and 66 passengers were evacuated and no one was injured.

The suspicious material was reportedly examined by the Police Bomb and Arson squad. According to Reuters, the material was found to be vials of a harmless herbal extract. Laura Kubiak, a police spokesperson, said that the police spoke to the passenger and there were no arrests.
