Pilots in Mexico want a say in the sale of the country's national airlines.

Yesterday (28 April), about 100 pilots protested in front of the offices of airline holding company Cintra. Mauricio Lopez, a union representative, said that the pilots fear major job losses if the government divests the airlines.

Cintra has not taken the pilots into account when it has planned selling off two-thirds of the government's stake, according to Lopez. Under Cintra's plans, AeroMexico will be sold off together with the regional airline Aerolitoral. The other major airline, Mexicana, along with the assets of Aerocaribe, would be sold together with a new budget airline, The Associated Press reported. Aerocaribe is a unit of Mexicana.
