Greek police had to use tear gas and pepper spray on Monday morning (4 April) to disperse rioting volleyball fans who had been barred from greeting their team at the Thessaloniki airport.
Fighting began outside Macedonia International Airport after Iraklis Thessaloniki won the Greek Cup final. About 500 fans hurled rocks and gasoline bombs at police because they were not allowed to enter the airport arrivals area to meet players, reported The Associated Press.
There were no injuries or arrests reported.
