Boeing could add a further 600 aircraft to 787 sales list - claim

Airline Industry Information, April 6, 2005

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Boeing Co has said that the company has made proposals to airlines that could add a further 600 sales for the new 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Mike Bair, the vice president of the company's commercial aircraft unit and also general manager of the 787 programme, has said that Boeing is currently juggling 40 proposals in addition to those already announced. Out of these 600 aircraft Boeing has actually received refundable deposits on 250. These deposits ensure the paying airline that it has a place in the delivery schedule while it negotiates regarding the final agreement, Reuters reported.

Bair has said that if the yield on the current proposals is 50%, it still remains huge. So far the manufacturer has announced orders for 193 of its 787 aircraft, which is reportedly just short of the target of 200 it set for itself at the end of 2004.
