CAE reports increase in profit

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

CAE Inc, a manufacturer of flight simulators and provider of pilot training programmes, has revealed that its adjusted earnings for the first quarter ended 30 June 2005 rose 10% due to higher sales of aircraft simulators to the civil and military sectors.

The company reported earnings from continuing operations for the quarter of CAD20.8m, or CAD0.08 per share, compared to earnings from continuing operations of CAD18.9m or CAD0.08 per share for the same period last year.

Revenue from continuing operations rose 15% for the quarter to CAD266m, from CAD230.9m in the prior year quarter. Net earnings for the quarter decreased to CAD20.8m from CAD24.3m in 2004.

According to Reuters Estimates, analysts expected earnings before exceptions of CAD0.06 per share and revenue of CAD252.6m.
