Thai Airways International has said that it is considering postponing the acquisition of two new Airbus A340 aircraft until next year.

The airline's heavy losses have made it consider postponing the purchase, board member Borwornsak Uwanno said. A decision to postpone would ease pressure on Thailand's account and trade deficits, but the board is yet to make a decision, Reuters reported. The delivery dates for the two aircraft have been set to November and December.

The financial results for the airline are expected on Monday (15 August).
