China Eastern Airlines reports July traffic figures

China Eastern Airlines Corp has reported that it carried 61% more travellers in July year-on-year.

The result is after the airline consolidated operations from two newly acquired units, including the passenger figures from China Eastern Air Yunnan Co and China Eastern Air Northwest Co. China Eastern Airlines reportedly completed an acquisition of the two carriers in June.

According to the statistics China Eastern carried 2.8m passengers in July 2005, compared to 1.6m in June. The domestic passenger numbers increased by 76% year-on-year to 2.2m, with international passengers increasing 34%, The Associated Press reported.
