An aircraft carrying 180 passengers and six crew members en-route from Atlanta to Ontario, California with Delta Air Lines on Saturday (20 August) was forced to make an emergency landing after suffering a crack to the aircraft's windshield.

A crack occurred in the windshield of the aircraft whilst it was travelling at 34,000 feet and according to officials an emergency landing was deemed necessary due to fears of a reduction in cabin pressure.

The aircraft landed safely in Little Rock, Arkansas and no injuries occurred as a result of the incident. The cause of the crack has not yet been identified but a second aircraft was deployed to take the passengers on to California, said The Associated Press.
