After over four years of negotiations American Eagle, a commuter partner carrier of American Airlines, announced on Wednesday (24 July) that it has arrived at a tentative agreement on a new contract with its flight attendants.

According to a union spokesperson the deal will be reviewed in Chicago this weekend by seven regional presidents of the Association of Flight Attendants, who will make the decision on whether to send the tentative contract to American Eagle's 1,750 flight attendants for ratification, said The Associated Press.

Negotiations between the airline and the union began back in May 2001 on a contract that opened for changes in September 2002. In November 2003 federal mediators were called in and were present during the most recent negotiations.

Terms of the tentative agreement were not disclosed.
