LAN Airlines and LAN Cargo to purchase Boeing aircraft

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
LAN Airlines and LAN Cargo are purchasing 12 long-haul Boeing 767-300 aircraft for passenger and cargo operations.
According to LAN, the value of the order is about USD1.1bn and the aircraft, which are scheduled for delivery between 2005 and 2008, are intended to double the company's freighter fleet, and also strengthen the international passenger routes serviced by LAN Alliance member airlines, including LAN Peru, LAN Argentina, LAN Ecuador and LAN Airlines, through lease arrangements.
