A freight aircraft operated by Hong Kong airline Cathay Pacific Airways was forced to turn back on Tuesday morning (1 February) because of two burst tyres.
The Boeing 747-200 aircraft had taken off from the Hong Kong International Airport, bound for Dubai, when the pilots noticed that two tyres were damaged. A priority landing was requested and the flight landed safely back in Hong Kong.
An airline spokesperson said that an investigation would be held to determine how the tyres on the leased aircraft had been damaged.
