Lufthansa announces January traffic figures

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
German airline Deutsche Lufthansa has announced its January passenger and freight traffic figures.
In January 2005 the airline carried 6.8% more traffic than in January 2004. Its passenger load factor increased 3 percentage points to 73.2%.
The number of passengers Lufthansa carried in January increased by 1.2% to 3.55 million, while the amount of air freight and post carried rose 6.5% to 127,000 tonnes. The cargo load factor decreased 1.4 percentage points to 63.6%.
The airline profited from new services from Munich, Germany, to Asia and an extra daily flight to South Africa, which led to growth rates of almost 13% in Asia and Africa.
