A suspicious-smelling package in the cargo area at Turkey's Esenboga Airport caused a gas scare on Thursday (10 February) and several workers were admitted to hospital with headache and nausea.

It was later discovered that the smell came from a leaking can of garlic oil.

The airport in the Turkish capital Ankara remained open, but the cargo section was sealed off and decontaminated as a precaution. Firefighters and security personnel were reportedly called in before the source of the smell was identified.
