Ghana Airways has officially ceased to exist.
Ghana Airways will be replaced by a new company, Ghana International Airlines, set to operate the new national airline of the country, according to a joint venture agreement between the country's government and SkyWest Airlines, a US-based carrier.
While Ghana International Airlines is set to start operations next week, employees of Ghana Airways have reportedly been complaining about the shortage of information. Representatives for the workers and the Trades Union Congress (TUC) are studying government proposals for a severance package for up to 1,200 employees of the airline, GhanaWeb reported.
