The Islamic Development Bank, based in Saudi Arabia, will reportedly loan Suriname USD23.5m to pay for a new airport radar system and to renovate a seaport.

About USD10 million of the funds will be used for a radar navigation system that is aimed at improving air traffic safety at Suriname's international airport, said the country's transportation minister.

The minister did not disclose the terms of the loan, which must still be approved by the Islamic Development Bank's board of directors, reported The Associated Press.
