Air France strike caused further disruptions on Monday

Ground staff at Air France extended their strike at Paris' Orly airport on Monday (21 February), causing further flight disruptions.

Air France said that about 83% of the 204 scheduled flights from the Orly West terminal in Paris took place. Flights were expected to return to normal on Tuesday (22 February).

The strike was launched as a protest against the dismissal of an employee after an accident on 1 February, in which a flight attendant fell to her death while trying to disembark from an aircraft onto a mobile staircase, reported Reuters.

Workers in the southwestern city of Toulouse also walked off the job on Monday (21 February) in a show of support for their colleagues in Paris.
