The Philippines anti-graft court issued arrest warrants on Wednesday (23 February) for two German nationals over an airport construction contract.
In 1997 Philippine International Air Terminals Co Inc (Piatco) signed a deal with the previous Philippine government to build and operate Terminal III at Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Hans Arthur Vogel and Bernd Struck, a director and a consultant at Piatco, have been accused of conspiring with three Filipino colleagues and government officials to add "onerous provisions" to that contract, such as a provision for the government to pay Piatco PHP180m if the contract was nullified.
