The governor of Illinois has called for the US federal government to stop the sale of airline pilots' uniforms on the Internet.

According to Governor Rod Blagojevich terrorists may obtain a pilot's uniform over the Internet and use it to breach airport security.

Illinois is reportedly working on a measure that would make it illegal to enter secure areas of an airport while impersonating a commercial pilot.

A pilot, even wearing a uniform, must still present appropriate identification to pass through airport checkpoints, said a Transportation Security Administration spokesperson.
