A corporate jet slid off the end of a runway while attempting to take off from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey on Wednesday (2 February).

At 0720 local time the twin-engine Canadair Challenger 600, heading for Chicago Midway Airport, ran off the runway, sped across a highway and hit a warehouse. The jet was carrying 12 passengers and two crew. At least 14 people were injured, one critically, said a US Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson. Among the injured were warehouse workers and a person whose car was hit by the jet. ABC News reported that one person was killed.

According to a witness the aircraft did not make it off the ground after sliding down the runway.

The airport was closed after the crash.
