Japan Airlines Corp (JAL) has reported a loss for the third quarter of its financial year.
The airline said that high fuel prices outweighed a recovery on the international routes. JAL reported a JPY3.72bn group net loss for the three months ending 31 December 2004 while revenue grew by 1.9% to JPY535.87bn.
Japan Airlines also said that it plans to acquire 30 Boeing 737 passenger jets with a list price of JPY200bn. There would also be an option for an additional 10 aircraft. The airline plans to sign the contract this spring, according to Reuters.
