A laser beam was visible in the cockpit of an American Airlines aircraft as it prepared to land at the Dallas-Forth Worth airport on 6 February, according to a report from the captain.

The aircraft landed safely, flown by the first officer. The aircraft was arriving from San Antonio when the laser beam was noticed for one or two seconds. American Airlines said that it is cooperating with the Federal Aviation Administration as well as air traffic control to investigate the incident and would urge prosecution if it is found that the laser beam entering the cockpit was intentional.

The captain was given a medical examination after the incident and it was found that he had no permanent damage to the eyes, The Associated Press reported.
